Fish #2 - 2006.06.11 -- ****

The great splurg weekend continues, today at another north bay fav, Fish. But alas three's not a company in this trio of revisits. To be fair, it is well, not, to expect this lunch to live up to my last Fish experience; there were something else at work then. But its not to say this trip wasn't bad, although I thought I would've had a little more success to get Jeanne to eat fish.

The opening white clam chowder couldn't touch the memories of the last one. However the half order fish ceviche with corn chips weren't half bad. Jeanne's grilled hamachi sandwich was not as devoid of fishiness as she'd wanted, so we traded my locally-caught calamari salad for her sammy, not that she would go near calamari, just for the salad! On the other side of the marina dock-side picnic table, Gabe and Steph gathered a saigon salmon sandwich alongside a mountainous crab roll, as well as half doz each of fresh and grilled oysters to share. The salmon sammy I've had before (I'm indifferent to cooked salmon), and the oysters were good, but it was the crab roll that steals the limelight for the ostensible huge lumps of juicy crab meat brimming out of the grasp of the bread.

As with last night, we completely stuffed our faces silly until we had barely enough energy to drag outselves back to the cars. Jeanne was a good sport and didn't complain the whole time. Even though this meal pales in comparison to the last, I am pretty sure I'll find myself back here again. Something about the marina setting, the salty bay breezes, and the cheery laid back "atmosphere" that feels to me like, as I said before, quintessential california.

$47 for this side of the table's orders. No tax, voluntary tip.
