Metropolitan #3 - 2006.03.14 -- ****
I have to say this place sort of grew on me. With my coworker's raving commendations, with its walls full of celebrity mugshots and autographs, with its poshy mahogany woods and its tuxdeo waitstaff, I understandably came in the first time with plenty of reservations, even disaffection. Their appetizers go from average to pretty good; their wine list is extensive and comes with dedicated sommeliers; but make no mistake the only thing anyone should be focused on here is the beef. In-house custom dry-aged, truly top grade, well and even marbled pieces of carnivore nirvana. Always perfectly cooked, which as fundamental as it is, is still often unachieved. Personally I prefer their New York over the FM, a large but still civilized slab of juicy beefy goodness. It even made the cab taste good.
Never had to pay at this place. 40+ for steak.
