Cascal - 2006.05.28 -- ***
We were hungry and in a hurry. I couldn't come up with any ideas in a pinch so we opted to drop by this place again, since last time we came they didn't have seating. The place was a feast for the eyes, lots of bold mediterrenean colors from ceiling to table setting. Their menu offered a good selection of interesting looking items. At 2:30pm, service was expected swift and soon we were chowing down on some paella rolls, chicken croquettas, shrimp and potato taquitos, and lamb enchiladas.
Each of the tapas featured intriguing juxtaposition of exotic materials; each sampling made me tilt my head and take another byte to ascertain the taste; there were sauces aplenty in all the tapas. Yet despite the state of our hunger then, and it being only 3 weeks in the past now, I can't say I remember much of any details of the dishes. I guess I'll have to say it was interesting without really being tasty. The one thing I do remember is their bread dipping oil, laced pugently with garlic and other herbs.
Amnon's impression was less forgiving than mine. He suffered some stomache discomfort after the meal (I felt nothing). I wouldn't mind giving Cascal another try, but he vowed never to return to this "mexican restaurant in disguise".
$40 for two all inc
